Premiere at the IAA: 60-tonne truck for mining

At IAA Transportation 2026, MAN is presenting the MAN TGS 60.540 8×4 BB for international markets – a mining tipper with application-specific approval for up to 60 tonnes.

Around 135,000 mining trucks are in operation worldwide, many of them running around the clock. To serve this business, MAN Truck & Bus is expanding its mining solution: the 60-tonne truck will initially arrive as a Euro 6 left-hand-drive variant in Chile and Morocco. Versions ranging from Euro 2 to Euro 5 for Africa, the Middle East and Latin America will follow.

Built tough for mine operations
The 60-tonne truck is powered by the 12.4-litre MAN D2676 Euro 6e engine, delivering 397 kW (540 hp) and 2,650 Nm of torque, combined with the MAN TipMatic 12.28 OD transmission with retarder, the MAN TipMatic Offroad driving programme and off-road ABS. A reinforced frame and axle guidance components, two 10-tonne front axles, a rear-axle unit with 20-tonne parabolic leaf-spring packages on each side, and 325/95 R24 tyres on singlepiece rims make the vehicle particularly resistant to the demands of open-pit mining. At the same time, its lightweight chassis places it in the 40-tonne payload class. At the IAA, the 60-tonne truck is on display as a MAN TGS INDIVIDUAL LION S, featuring a black styling package, a roof light bar with double-row LED light bars, and ambient lighting in the cab.

Service right into the mine
Mines operate around the clock, and MAN’s service concept is designed accordingly: on-site training, agreed response times, mobile workshops and container-based service stations bring support directly to wherever the vehicles are in operation. MAN genuine parts come with a two-year warranty, and a dedicated TCO calculator for mining helps operators keep track of total operating costs. “In mining, every tonne and every hour counts,” says Thomas Hemmerich, Head of Sales Area International at MAN Truck & Bus. “With the 60-tonne truck, our customers can move heavy payloads – and our service extends right into the mine.”

From the 48-tonne truck to today’s mining solution
MAN has been building tippers for mining and heavy construction for decades – from the F8, with a gross weight of 48 tonnes in the early 1980s, to the 50-tonne truck that MAN introduced at the Trucknology Days in 2023. The latter is now in service in Chile, Peru and Africa, among other places. The 60-tonne truck now follows as a vehicle for even heavier loads.

Part of a broad mining portfolio
The 60-tonne truck complements a range that covers all phases of mining – from exploration through development and extraction operations to land rehabilitation. For this, MAN offers the TGL, TGM, TGS, TGX and TGE as chassis, tippers and tractor units, ranging from 4×2 to 10×4 configurations and in emissions classes from Euro 2 to Euro 6. They are in operation in copper, gold, coal, nickel, bauxite and phosphate mines.
