Attachments manufacturer KINSHOFER GROUP joins Open-S Alliance

The joint initiative to create an open standard for fully automatic quick couplers for excavators is strengthened as Open-S Alliance welcomes the Kinshofer Group as a member of the organization. The goal with the Open-S standard is to give machine operators and contractors the freedom to combine machine couplers, tiltrotators, and tools from manufacturers that are in compliance with the standard, and to promote continued technological development.

Kinshofer is a leading manufacturer of attachments for truck cranes and excavators, as well as rotators, tiltrotators, and rotary actuators, with headquarters in Holzkirchen, Germany. The company joins the Open-S Alliance as an Associate Member.

In the industry as a whole the demand for productivity is constantly rising and in many applications the need for quick change of work tools is continuous, therefore fully automatic quick couplers are becoming increasingly popular. The Open-S Alliance strives to give machine owners and contractors the freedom to combine quick couplers, tiltrotators, and work tools from different manufacturers following the Open-S standard.

The open interface defines hydraulic couplers and ensures that a combination of products from different manufacturers will not in any way interfere with or alter the safety solution of each individual product. The open standard safeguards customers from being locked into a company-specific solution and instead select the solution that best solves their individual needs.

The number of members of the Open-S Alliance is growing as more and more companies come to the conclusion that the open standard is good for the industry. There are currently several ongoing discussions with companies applying for membership.
