Komptech GmbH is positioned as an all-in vendor for the recycling industry. In addition to its technological solutions for the reclamation of biogenic waste, the company has how placed a second performance focus on the processing of mixed waste streams. The mobile, semimobile and stationary systems in the new ‘Industrial’ division are not just technically, but also visually distinct. Instead of green the machines are finished in anthracite. Komptech showcased the first new product in the Industrial line, the Equalizor shredder, at IFAT 2024.

“In the face of dwindling resources the pressure to work towards a circular economy is growing. The raw materials that can be recycled from household, commercial and bulky waste will therefore grow in value. Komptech has taken up the task of supplying the mixed waste recycling industry with innovative, forward-looking technologies,” explained Christoph Feyerer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Komptech, at IFAT 2024, the trade show for environmental technologies. As a solution specialist for processing mixed waste streams and biomass, Komptech invests heavily in its own research and development, as well as working with external scientific partners. Its focus is on the material and energetic reclamation of municipal, commercial and packaging waste through the deployment of digitalization and sensor technology.

Equalizor – The shredder for mixed waste streams
Komptech is launching its new Industrial system line with the Equalizor. This single-shaft shredder is designed to handle changing feedstocks of commercial, bulky and domestic waste. Its cutting-type shredding unit can handle these types of waste without problems. The focus is on turning out a homogeneous product with high throughput. To do this, it has a precisely adjustable cutting gap between the drum and counter-cutter, an automatic pre-compressor and high-efficiency direct drive. To ensure continuously consistent material quality, the Equalizor also has a screen basket. Customers can choose among various screen opening sizes, and can change baskets easily and safely by means of the swing-out screen basket frame.

The Equalizor is a climate-friendly all-electric machine. Mobility is available in the battery-powered tracked version. “With the Equalizor we offer a tough mid-stage shredder for 20 to 400 millimetre particle sizes. Two more ‘Industrial’ shredders will follow, for coarse pre-shredding and precise post-shredding,” reports Ewald Konrad, Chief Sales Officer (CSO).

Axtor, Lacero, Crambo – Komptech’s green shredders
At the trade fair’s VDMA area Komptech is showing its machines and systems for processing green waste, waste wood and woody biomass. The high-speed Axtor 4510 universal shredder is a very versatile machine that can work in shredder or chipper mode to make different kinds of products. It has a high-efficiency direct drive and is powered by a Caterpillar diesel engine. The shredding unit works by the down-swing method, i.e. the shredding teeth act on the input material against a defined counter-cutter.

The Lacero 8010 is a new high-speed, high-performance shredder from Komptech. It likewise uses the down-swing principle, and with its exceptional 800 hp engine power it is ideal for processing high volumes of waste wood and biomass. Like all of Komptech’s diesel-powered shredders, the Lacero features a Caterpillar engine.

The Crambo 5000 is a low-speed two-shaft shredder that delivers aggressive material intake with minimal fines production. This machine is very resistant to contraries. It also features overload protection and drum reversibility. Komptech offers the Crambo with the identical performance profile in a climate-friendly e-mobile version in which the diesel engine is replaced by an electric motor.

The Multistar L3 star screen is a perfect complement to the Crambo, and is ideal for screening waste wood, biomass and compost. Thanks to its intelligent design, the L3 can be configured precisely for its application and working conditions. For example, it can be converted from 3-fraction screening to 2-fraction screening. This is just one of many options available for setting up the machine for its target application.
