Magni TH innovations on display at Bauma

Already in its second participation at the renowned German Bauma trade fair, the Italian company Magni TH has exposed a number of machines in the rotating telehandler range. Among them were found novelties, such as the “Smart S” range, the new 5.39 S (the highest working height telescopic handler in the world), the first fixed boom telehandler (the TH6.20) and new scissor platforms (AWP).

Smart S range: compactness and flexibility
From the first models of “Smart” range with pivoting stabilizers, Magni has developed the newborn “Smart S” range which is comprehensive of 21m, 23m and 25m models, built on the same “Smart” compact chassis but with scissors stabilizers which grant more flexibility and better lifting performances. These models were commercialized already in 2015, but the official presentation took place at Bauma 2016.

5.39 S: innovation, height and performance
After RTH 5.35 S, Magni Telescopic Handlers has overtook itself projecting and manufacturing an even higher model: the RTH 5.39S, which is now the highest working height telescopic handler in the world. This brand new model, unveiled for the first time at Bauma 2016, has some very special features:
1. The chassis is just the same of RTH 5.30S and has been reinforced to resist the big strains to which the machine is exposed in working at such an height, in fact this model, at 38,7 mt, has a maximum lifting capacity of 2 tons; in fact this model allows to work on a building up to the 13th floor.
2. The transmission is composed of a Euro 4 final Mercedes Engine with 170 kW/ 231 hp, one Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic piston pump and a Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic motor.
3. The hydraulic circuit is load sensing with 350 bar operative working pressure.
4. The cabin reflects the standards of all RTH machines: it is pressurized with 100% inlet air filtration, air conditioning, panoramic windshield from bottom to top, double electro-proportional CAN BUS joysticks, ROPS and FOPS certification, Magni Combi Touch System (MCTS) which is a touch screen interface to the operator which allows to manage the whole machine through 5 main pages, it guides operator with written messages during the use of the machine and it is very efficient for auto-diagnostics in electric and electronic trouble shooting.
5. The patented boom: this is one of the biggest innovations of this model since it consists of 6 elements with 2 cylinders for extension placed outside the boom itself, and inside there are just hoses and pipes. In this way hoses have more available space to move during extension and retraction of the boom and this avoids accidental breaks. Another peculiarity of the boom is the way in which it is managed by the software: the first 4 sections are activated by the cylinder placed on the upper side of the boom and they move proportionally with the chain extension system. The 5th element, which is the biggest and the heavier, is managed by another cylinder placed on the lower side of the boom, which works in a proportional way to the boom angle; this means that the more the angle increases the more the 5th element extends. This extension system has been developed to keep a good load capacity on the wide horizontal reach, otherwise the weight of the 5th element would reduce too much the load capacity of the machine; things are different in the vertical sense instead since in this case the weight remains close to the load center of the machine.
Equipped with a special men platform, RTH 5.35 S can reach 51 m working height. This special platform can extend the working height of 12 m. This machine is a 3 in 1 machine and if equipped with the right attachment, can perform more than one task: crane, men platform and telescopic handler. All Magni models are equipped with Euro IV final engines (Mercedes or Deutz).

Fix boom range
At Bauma 2016, Magni TH has displayed the first model of fix boom telescopic handler: the TH6.20 with a maximum capacity of 6 ton and a working height of 20 m. The range will be initially composed by 3 models: 10, 15 and 20 meters working height and all these machines will have the following features: same pressurized and air tight full visibility cab of RTH with standard heating, air conditioning and 100% inlet air filtration; cab will be fitted also with touch screen and MCTS system to control the machine.
Both hydraulic circuits, movements and transmission, are Load Sensing and the hydraulic is electronically managed with optimization of engine power curves (less fuel consumption) and flow sharing (more safety and precision). Electrical circuit is completely in CAN BUS; this improves aftersales service since it makes possible to have an integrated diagnostic on touch screen without any additional tool, the possibility of remote assistance and faster trouble shooting; also the life and quality of the machine is improved as it has 2/3 less wiring on itself with a consequent reduction of electrical failure.

Men platforms (AWP)
In February 2016, Zhejiang Dingli Machinery Co Ltd, the largest producer of AWP products in China, purchased 20% of Magni Telescopic Handlers shares by increase of capital and the creation of Dingli European R&D Centre. Here, Dingli and Magni TH will make new studies and design a full range of telescopic and articulated aerial work platforms. This new range will incorporate new concepts in design to improve substantially the performance of this products. Zhejinag Dingli will sell through its distribution network in China the full range of Magni TH products while Magni TH will have the right to distribute Zhejinag Dingli scissor men platform in the European market.
