Manitowoc showcases new Grove GMK5150 and Hup 32-27 at Vertikal Days 2016

Manitowoc enjoyed a successful show at this year’s Vertikal Days where the company introduced its new Potain Hup 32-27 and the new Grove GMK5150, both launched earlier this year at bauma 2016.

Visitors to the event also had the opportunity to see a range of Manitowoc cranes alongside the Hup 32-27 and the Grove GMK5150, including the GMK3060, the GMK6300L, the RT540E and the new tower crane cab equipped with the Crane Control System (CCS). The company also presented the VIAB turbo clutch and integrated retarder, launched in 2015. The VIAB module eliminates both fluid overheating and clutch burning, and delivers wear-free starting and braking, exceptional maneuverability and better fuel economy. The GMK5250L was the first ever mobile crane to feature this system and was followed by the GMK5180-1 and the GMK5200-1 which also features it.

GMK5150
The 150 t capacity Grove GMK5150 features a 51 m boom with a maximum counterweight of 45 t. The five-axle crane is also powered by a single engine, reducing the overall weight and allowing it to carry more counterweight. In addition, the crane benefits from the laser-hybrid welding technology in place at the Wilhelmshaven plant, which increases welding precision and creates booms that both weigh less and perform better. Not displayed but launched with this model is the GMK5150L with a 60 m boom. Both models feature a 24 t counterweight configuration and allow up to 16,5 t axle loads.

Hup 32-27
The Hup 32-27 has a maximum capacity of 4 t while it can lift 1 t at its jib end of 32 m. There are two footprint options, 4 m x 4 m or 3.5 m x 4.42 m while the crane’s innovative and dynamic unfolding movement allows it to set up in even the most restricted spaces. In addition, an integrated leveling system allows for positioning on slopes up to 8 percent or over height differentials of up to 25 cm. The most impressive features include its compact dimensions with a choice of two working heights along with enhanced operator comfort and ease of operation.

GMK3060
This three-axle all-terrain crane offers enhanced duty chart and safety features. The 60 t capacity Grove GMK3060 was the first in the range to feature Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CCS) and boom Configuration Mode.

GMK6300L
The 300 t capacity GMK6300L offers the longest boom in its class at 80 m and this can be extended further with a 37 m jib. The crane is easy to operate in its full counterweight of 16 t and also features Grove’s patented Megatrak independent suspension system which provides optimum travel both on and off-road.

RT540E
The 35 t capacity RT540E represented Grove’s rough-terrain range at Vertikal Days. It provides optimal lifting capacity in a compact package, with a maximum tip height of 47 m. This crane features the CCS (Crane Control System) and is the first of a new generation of RT cranes. The Grove RT540E has a 31 m four-section, full-power boom which reduces the overall weight of the crane while maximizing capacity. It combines all of the industry-leading capabilities that Grove rough-terrain cranes are famous for, including an extremely rugged design with deep box section frames, four-steering modes, inverted outrigger jacks and excellent pick-and-carry capabilities.

MDT CCS
The CCS cab presented at Vertikal Days allowed visitors to discover the new generation of Potain tower cranes which are now equipped with the Crane Control System: Potain MDT, CCS and the MD crane range offers operators the highest level of safety, comfort, ergonomic control, and lifting capacity.
In addition to highlighting its products, Manitowoc also presented its comprehensive range of customer services. These include Manitowoc CraneSTAR, CraniMAX, Manitowoc Finance and Manitowoc Crane Care.
