Terex Tower Cranes has introduced the CTL 702-32, a new luffing jib tower crane with an emphasis on control, safety, and efficiency to transform the way construction sites operate, enabling safer and faster project completion.
At the core of this innovation is the philosophy that control is speed. Designed so that every movement of the crane is precise and swift, the CTL 702-32 improves both safety and productivity.
“The more precise the control, the safer and smoother the operation, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency,” said Angelo Cosmo, Product Manager for Terex Tower Cranes. “We embedded this philosophy in the design and functionality of the crane to provide a more seamless experience for operators and crews alike.”
The CTL 702-32 boasts a 70m jib length with a maximum lifting capacity of 32 tonnes (up to 28m jib). At 70m jib, it offers up to 6-tonne capacity, while the crane’s highly competitive free-standing height capabilities offer additional versatility for high-rise and large-scale projects. Equipped with a powerful luffing motor, the CTL 702-32 delivers speed and reliability, making it an indispensable tool for any job site.
The crane is electric by nature with a clean, quiet operation that not only reduces the environmental footprint of construction sites but also enhances overall energy efficiency, making it an ideal solution for modern, sustainable construction projects.
Safety is a top priority, with enclosures and handrail protection to prevent the risk of falling objects and offer greater protection for workers during maintenance, operation, and assembly/disassembly. In addition to this, the crane features a slack rope system, which provides a smooth, uninterrupted lifting process by preventing slack rope conditions that could compromise crane stability and load security.
The control ethos extends to the erection and dismantling process of the CTL 702-32, which has also been significantly improved. With streamlined procedures that include standardised pins and bolts, fewer tools required, and smart assisted assembly solutions, the crane is quicker to assemble and dismantle, reducing valuable on-site time. The design optimises the use of connectors, making maintenance simpler and more efficient by reducing the number of cables and connectors that need to be managed. Additionally, the crane’s main assembly is completed on the ground, further improving safety and ease of setup.
Precision is key, and the CTL 702-32 delivers through its brand-new T-Line system the ability to precisely place loads during jib luffing, ensuring a consistent load height is maintained, and T-Torque inverter technology which provides torque control for precise and operator adjustable crane slewing. These tools allow operators to accurately control and fine-tune the crane’s movements, making it suitable for a wide range of complex lifting tasks.
“Our goal is to deliver not only cutting-edge technology but also a real solution to the challenges faced by construction teams on the ground,” said Lee Maynard, Global Sales Director, Terex Tower Cranes. “The CTL 702-32 exemplifies our dedication to providing the highest level of control, which we believe enhances safety and efficiency. We’ve designed the CTL 702-32 to help operators work faster, safer, and smarter—improving overall site productivity while reducing risks.”
Angelo Cosmo, Product Manager added, “Every feature—from the advanced slack rope system to the precision torque control and faster assembly process—has been meticulously designed with the end user in mind. Our focus on continuous improvement means this crane is not only a machine but an investment in safer, more efficient construction projects worldwide.”
