The final steps in the restructuring of ATLAS Group in connection with its acquisition by Canadian company Buhler Versatile, a leading North American agricultural machinery manufacturer with a production site in Winnipeg, Manitoba, have now been completed. The transaction officially closed on 1 October 2026. ATLAS Group’s operating business will now continue under the Buhler Versatile umbrella. Integration into the new owner’s operations will take place over the coming weeks.
With the acquisition by Buhler Versatile, more than 200 jobs at ATLAS will be retained. The purchase price and details of the transaction will remain confidential.
ATLAS is one of Germany’s well-known construction machinery manufacturers. The group, headquartered in Ganderkesee near Delmenhorst, commenced restructuring proceedings under self-administration in February 2026. To support management, restructuring experts Dr. Malte Köster and Dr. Hans-Joachim Berner from KÖSTERBERNER Sanierungsrecht were appointed general representatives. Attorney Hendrik Gittermann from REIMER was appointed Custodian by the Local Court. Business operations have continued ever since. In parallel, a structured international investor process was launched, led by PwC’s Timo Klees and Julius Karp.
Buhler Versatile is part of a globally active, family-owned industrial group with established operations in agricultural and construction machinery in Turkey, Canada and the United States.
Dr. Hans-Joachim Berner (KÖSTERBERNER Sanierungsrecht, general representative): “ATLAS has made use of the opportunities offered by German restructuring law. With the completion of the transaction, ATLAS is embarking on a new chapter in its corporate history, and we wish the team every success as it starts operating under its new ownership structure. We thank all those involved for their constructive cooperation. Together, we have succeeded in creating clear prospects for the future and preserving 200 jobs.”
Hendrik Gittermann (REIMER, insolvency monitor): “Less than eight months have passed from the filing for insolvency in February to the final closing today. For a proceeding of this size and in such a challenging market environment, this is an outstanding result. Thanks to the constructive cooperation of all those involved, ATLAS has been preserved as a brand and as a manufacturer of high-quality construction machinery at its Ganderkesee site.”
