John Deere set a new standard in logging in 2024 by launching the first H Series forest machines that took productivity and joy of work to new heights. Now, the range of large size-class machine models is expanding with the eight-wheeled harvester 1470H 8W. Together with a new harvester head H427, the biggest eight-wheeler makes a superior duo for harvesting big trees on steep slopes and difficult terrain. The combination is also the highlight of the John Deere booth at the Forexpo exhibition in France, 18-20 June.
High productivity meets exceptional stability: 1470H 8W is a master of steep slopes
Significantly higher productivity and lower fuel consumption per harvested cubic meter have been the key benefits of the H Series harvesters, in comparison to previous models. The high performing engines have 10% more power and torque, and the improved hydraulics offer more hydraulic power and higher work pressure for feeding, while the optimized system also ensures balanced fuel economy.
Compared to the six-wheeled 1470H, the eight-wheeled model brings even more tractive effort to slopes. The powerful H9 boom, introduced in association with the H Series in 2024, supports the performance of the new model in the most demanding challenges.
The cylinder-operated active frame lock of the H Series harvesters enhances stability and makes it easier to work with the boom sideways, offering the operator a remarkably larger working area. The eight-wheeled 1470H maximizes stability with its optimal weight distribution. Whether working on steep slopes or flat ground, the machine stays perfectly balanced, allowing the operator to work with both ease and precision.
Operator comfort and improved visibility
From intuitive interfaces to ergonomic designs and from the quiet cabin to accessible service points, every aspect of the new machine is crafted to enhance the operator’s experience and ease of use.
The rotating and levelling cabin with an increased 220-degree rotating angle is standard in the H Series harvesters and offers an excellent view to the working area. H Series harvesters feature a new rear chassis and new placement of the engine, pumps and hydraulic oil and fuel tanks. Together with noise-isolating materials in the cabin interior, these solutions make the working environment pleasantly quiet.
The H Series comes with more and better-quality lighting for increased visibility around the working area. The back of the machine has been lowered, so rear visibility has also improved significantly.
Intelligent Cabin Key is a personal remote key to unlock the machine door and turn on the PC and TimberMatic control system with operator-specific settings. It can also be personalized for service personnel and trailer drivers.
TimberMatic H automation supports a superior logging performance by offering the operators a visually improved, intuitive user interface. The on-screen view only shows the info relevant to the workflow while a new secondary display shows the base machine functions and cameras.
Intelligent Boom Control IBC makes boom control precise, fast and easy, letting the operator focus on controlling the harvester head rather than the boom joint movements. The configurable button joysticks make every day work easier.
Simple daily services and 1000-hour service intervals with John Deere Protect
Good serviceability is at the core of the H Series. Modular designs and easily replaceable components make maintenance and repairs simple, reducing downtime and minimizing environmental impact. Daily servicing is made easy. The refill points are all located in the same easily accessible place. All machines have an electric engine-oil-level sensor and a totally new central greasing system for ease of use.
With a John Deere Protect service agreement, the H Series forest machines can enjoy the longest service intervals in the market – up to 1000 hours.
Power and performance – The new H427 harvester head is the best companion for large harvesters
The new H427 is our most powerful harvester head for large trees. Its strong structure and a wide,146.5- degree tilt angle ensure smooth operating especially on steep slopes and even in the toughest conditions. The new harvester head offers the best capabilities for easy handling and processing of big trunks. The length- and diameter-measuring qualities have improved, and the serviceability of the new head is excellent.
The H427 harvester head is fully compatible with H Series harvesters 1270H and 1470H.
