Kennis, a crane Brand of Hyva, has a long heritage in the Transportation and Construction sectors. Now, Kennis is celebrating 50 years of design and production of articulated roller cranes which can be easily put on rails integrated in the trailer floor or flatbed installed on a truck or fixed ground rails. As of 1991, Kennis has been officially part of Hyva and crane production has been fully integrated into the Hyva crane and container handling manufacturing plant at Poviglio, in Italy, since 2013.
This specific Rolloader Crane solution requires a high level of innovation, customization, good people, quality products and excellent customer service. Continuing innovation at Kennis is evidenced by the entry of the new generation of Kennis rolloader cranes with the new 13-RL and the upgraded version of the 16-R, as well as stepping into the market for electric solutions with the new e-Power cranes.
With improvements in weight, emissions, safety and ergonomics, the new Kennis crane lines will serve our customers who have to anticipate new regulations and maximize payloads. Through the introduction of electric power, rather than conventional diesel power, additional considerable benefits are offered, including improved energy efficiency and lower environmental impact – no exhaust fume emissions and lower noise levels. It also provides a much healthier working environment for crane operators as they no longer need to work with the noise and exhaust fumes from a diesel engine which is ideal for urban areas, night work and indoor use.
“We are proud of our heritage and our 50 years in crane manufacturing, but we also have a clear focus on the future. Our innovative e-Power initiative will shape part of this future. It is a first, and important, step for Hyva in offering electric solutions and improving the sustainability of Hyva products and solutions,” explained Martin Kolkman, VP Hyva International & Western Europe-Middle East-Africa.
On Kennis e-Power Rolloader cranes, the conventional diesel engine can be substituted with an electric engine unit – comprised of a battery pack, an electric motor, a smart electronic control system which optimises power supply and a display which, among others, shows the battery status. This electric system means that the crane can be operated when the truck engine is switched off. The crane can be operated quietly and there are no exhaust fumes. The packages will be available in both light duty and heavy duty versions, each with stationary plug-in charging solution and stationary + on-road charging options.
50 years of Kennis innovations have led to a new range and flexibility that matches different customer requirements in terms of operating time, operating frequency and travel time, and with consistent improvements in safety, stability and ease of use. This milestone will be celebrated together with the “father” of Rolloader Cranes, Mr. Joep Kennis, at IAA 2018.
